Ausgehend vom Raqs, dem sogenannten Bauchtanz bzw. Orientalischen
Tanz, verhandelt und dekonstruiert WE <3 2 RAQS orientalistische und kolo-
niale Bildstrukturen. Auf Einladung von Kılınçel lassen fünf Tänzer*innen durch
ihre Interpretation unterschiedlicher Genres einen kollektiven Raqs-Körper
entstehen. Begleitet von einer Liveband rekontextualisiert die Arbeit Tanz als
eine feministische, selbstermächtigende Praxis, die als Kunstform auf institu-
tionellen Bühnen sichtbar wird.
Based on Raqs, the so-called belly dance
or oriental dance, WE <3 2 RAQS negotiates and deconstructs orientalist and
colonial image structures. At the invitation of Kılınçel, five dancers create a
collective Raqs body through their interpretation of different genres. Accom-
panied by a live band, the work recontextualises dance as a feminist, self-
empowering practice that becomes visible as an art form on institutional stages.
